His educational qualification is Doctor of Business Administration (Honoris Causa) from the University of East London, London. His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He is married to Shrimati Sushila Devi Goenka on 4 December 1973 and has three children two sons and one daughter.
Shri Subhash Chandra Goenka was first joined his family business of commission agents and traders who procured and supplied rice to the Food Corporation of India. After that he started manufacturing flexible packaging (mainly plastic tubes) in 1980 and in 1992, he launched Zee TV, Star TV in Hong Kong, and Dish TV in 2003. He has been awarded the International Emmy Directorate Award (2011) and Canada India Foundation, Chanchlani Global Indian Award. In 2016, he was elected to the Rajya sabha as a candidate of an independent party from the state of Haryana.
