Srinivasa Prasad, also known as V. Srinivas Prasad, is a famous Indian politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), social worker, and Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from Chamrajanagar (Karnataka) Constituency. He was born on 06 Aug 1947 (age 74 years according to 2021) in Mysore, Karnataka, India. His father’s name is Late Shri M. Venkataiah and his mother’s name is Late Smt. D.V. Puttamma. His educational qualification is B.Sc., M.A. (Political Science) from Sharadavilas College and Mysore University, Mysore (Karnataka). His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He married Smt. Bhagya Lakshmi on 02 Jul 1960 and has three daughters. He has been traveled U.S.S.R. (as a member of the Indian Parliamentary Delegation) and also toured various countries in South East Asia, New York, and the USA.
Venkataiah Srinivas Prasad started his political career as a candidate of the Indian National Congress and in a letter, he joined Janata Dal (Secular), Janata Dal (United), Samata Party, Independent, and then back to Indian National Congress, Janata Party. He was first appointed to the General-Secretary of Yuva Janata, Karnataka. In 1980, he was elected to the 7th Lok Sabha from Chamarajanagar constituency and re-elected to 8th Lok Sabha (2nd term), 9th Lok Sabha (3rd term), 10th Lok Sabha (4th term), 13th Lok Sabha (5th term), and 17th Lok Sabha (6th term) from the same constituency. He has been President of Youth Congress(I), Karnataka for 1984-85, Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution for 1999-04, Cabinet Minister for Revenue, Government of Karnataka for 2013-18, and worked on many more positions. Currently, he is serving as a member of the Standing Committee on Social Justice and Empowerment, a member of the Consultative Committee, the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers, and a member of the Committee on Petitions.
