Sonali Bendre is an Indian actress who born on 1st January 1975 in Mumbai. She is a model, television personality and author also. She is best known for her work in Hindi films. She has also appeared in Tamil, Marathi, Telugu and Kannada language films. She is one of the most popular actresses in the film industry. She is the recipient of numerous accolades including a Filmfare Awards.
Bendre belongs to a Maharashtrian family. She has a brother who resides in Mumbai. Her father was a Government servant. When she was a teenager, she did several modelling assignments and appeared in numerous television commercials.
When she was at the age of 19, she made her acting debut as a lead role in the film Aag. Then she appeared in several hit films like Diljale (1996), Bhai (1997), Major Saab (1998), Kadhalar Dhinam (1998), Sarfarosh (1999), Hum Saath Saath Hain (1999), Dil Hi Dil Mein (1999) and Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai (2000). Bendre received a major success for her films Zakhm (1998), Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega (2001) and Kal Ho Na Ho (2001). After all of these, she took a full time leave from acting in 2003.
After 10 years, she made her comeback in 2013 with the gangster thriller Once Upon a Time. Instead of acting in films, she is also a stage performer. She appeared into television and hosted the dance show Kya Masti Kya Dhoom….!. She featured as a talented judge in several reality shows such as Mr & Mrs Television, India’s Got Talent, Indian Idol 4, India’s Best Dramebaaz and Hindustan Ke Hunarbaaz. She also presented a show on television “Mission Sapne”. She worked as a lead role in the Television series Ajeeb Dastaan Hai Yeh.
On 12 November 2002, Sonali Bendre got married to film director Goldie Behl and the couple became parents of a son Ranveer on 11 August 2005. On 4th July 2018, She revealed on Twitter that she is suffering from Cancer and she moved to New York City Hospital for her treatment.
