Som Parkash is a famous Indian politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party, IAS Officer (Retd.), Social Worker, and Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from Hoshiarpur (SC) (Punjab) Constituency. He was born on 3 April 1949 (age 72 years according to 2021) in Vill. Daulatpur, District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Punjab, India. His father’s name is Shri Hazara Ram and his mother’s name is Smt. Mahon Devi. His educational qualification is M.A. (Economics) from Punjab University, Chandigarh, Punjab. His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He married Smt. Anita on 14 Oct 1977 and has two sons named Sanjeev and Dr.Sahil Kainth. He loves Australia, Austria, Canada, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, the UK, and the USA.
Som Parkash was first started his career as a research officer in the Punjab State Planning Board in 1972 after that he worked as an IAS Officer of the 1988 batch in the Punjab cadre and Deputy Commissioner of Jalandhar. After retirement, he took his feet into the political world as a BJP candidate. He was elected to the member of Punjab Legislative Assembly from Phagwara Constituency for two terms. In 2019, he was elected to the 17th Lok Sabha from the Hoshiarpur constituency. He has also been worked at the position of the deputy commissioner of Faridkot, Hoshiarpur, and Jalandhar, Labour Commissioner, Punjab Urban Planning and Development Authority (PUDA) chief administrator, managing director of the Punjab Financial Corporation, and director of the Social Security Department. Currently, he is serving as a Union Minister of State, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and Vice-President, B.J.P. (Punjab). He is also part of social services as he has been President, Chandigarh Volleyball Association for 12 years.
