Silambarasan Thesingu Rajendar as born on 3rd February 1983 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, to couple T. Rajendar and Usha Rajendar. He is the Eldest child of the family, he also have one younger brother Kuralarasan and one younger sister Ilakiya, did his schooling from Don Bosco Matriculation Higher Secondary School and St. John’s International Residential School. Made his debut from a very young age and also portrayed small roles in his father’s film till 2002, after that he got a big break as the main hero in film Kadhal Azhivathillai which was directed by his father and produced by his mother.
He is an Actor, Director, Screenwriter, Playback Singer, Lyricist and Music Composer. Made his debut in 1984 as a Child Actor, from movie Uravai Kaatha Kili, where he did a cameo. Further, he acted in movies such as- Thai Thangai Paasam, Oru Vasantha Geetham, En Thangai Kalyani, Enga Veetu Velan, Monisha En Monalisa, Oru Thayin Sabhatham, Samsara Sangeetham, Shanti Enathu Shanti, Pettredutha Pillai, Thiruvalla and Sabash Babu. From 2002 – 2004 he played his first main lead role in Movie Kadhal Azhivathillai, the movie did a good business and was directed by his father.
Then did second movie named as Dum in 2003, which had mixed reviews and did quietly good at box office. Then his third release in 2003 movie Alai, was a major flop. Then in 2004, his movie Kovil was a hit at box office. After this, he acted in movie Kuththu, which also did a good business in theatres. Then from 2005 – 2009, his movie Thotti Jaya which was critically acclaimed. Then in 2006, he came up with movie Vallavan, which got a grand release on Diwali. Then in 2008, his masala movie Kaalai was a flop. 2010 was his year of success, his movie Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa became a “Cult Classic” in Tamil cinema, it was pinned as his Best Performance till date.
During 2011 – 2015, he career had a setback, he did two movies, one was Vaanam and other was Osthe, which did a decent business. In 2016, he came up with Idhu Namma Aalu which became a super duper hit. He has won many awards for his superb acting skills. Also being honoured with Kalamamani from Government of Tamil Nadu in 2006. Won ITFA Best Actor Award in 2011, Big FM- Most Entertaining Actor Award in 2010 and many more.
