Shweta Tripathi, born on 6th July 1985, is an Indian actress. Being born in Delhi, she did her schooling from Delhi Public School (DPS), RK Puram, New Delhi and did her graduation in Fashion Communication from NIFT, Delhi. Her father, also Delhi’s former Chief Secretary, Mr. P.K. Tripathi is an IAS officer and mother is a retired teacher. Before shifting to Mumbai to pursue her acting career, Shweta resided in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Tripathi recently married her longtime actor-rapper boyfriend, Chaitanya Sharma aka SlowCheeta on 29th June 2018 in Goa. The ceremony was limited to close family members and friends only. She also disclosed the romantic proposal made by Chaitanya Sharma who is five years younger to Shweta and the tattoo he has in her name.
Shweta Tripathi started her acting career with a Disney Channel Television Series, “Kya Mast Hai Life” in the year 2009. In the series, she played the role of a tomboy named Zenia Khan. Before getting her big break from Masaan (2015), Shweta was a part of the short film “Sujata” (2011) directed by Shlok Sharma. Her first break in the Indian Film Industry, Masaan brought her award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role from Zee Cine Awards. She was also a part of another short film “Love Shots: Koi Dekh Lega” (2016) opposite Saqib Saleem. Her another television series was released in 2016 in the name of “The Trip” where she is one of the four girlfriends who go on a road trip in Thailand as a part of the bride’s bachelorette.
Her another milestone in her acting career is the 2017 Indian comedy film, “Haraamkhor” directed by Shlok Sharma starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui. In the movie, she played the role of Sandhya, a school student who is involved in an affair with her school teacher. For the same, she won the FOI Online Awards-Special Jury Mention in Acting. She also won the Grand Jury Award for Best Actress at IFFLA for Haraamkhor. Her performance in the same was also praised by many critics and audience. Lately, she has performed in a short film “Beautiful (2018)”.
Her upcoming movies include “Cargo” with Vikrant Massey. She is also filming for her upcoming web series “Mirzapur” with Vikrant Massey and Ali Fazal under Excel Entertainment.
