Shivraj Singh Chouhan is an Indian politician and member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He was born on March 5, 1959 (age 62 years), Budhni, India. He did his study at Barkatullah University Institute of Technology, Model Higher Secondary School. Shivraj’s father’s name is Prem Singh Chouhan and his mother’s name is Sundar Bai Chouhan.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan is the former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. He belongs to BJP. Before joining politics, he served the nation as Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) volunteer. He joined the RSS in 1972, at the age of 13. He has been a five-time Member of Parliament from Vidisha Loksabha Constituency.At the age of 16, he was elected as the President of the Model Higher Secondary School Students' Union. Shivraj joined Swayamsewak, Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (R.S.S.). He was the youngest volunteer then. After that, he became Organising-Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (A.B.V.P.), Bhopal in 1977. He became Joint-Secretary of A.B.V.P., Madhya Pradesh. In 1980 he was promoted as General-Secretary 1980 and then became National Executive member in 1982. Shivraj Singh joined Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Madhya Pradesh as Joint-Secretary. Within a year he became Joint Secretary in 1984. He was elected as president of Yuva Morcha, B.J.P., Madhya Pradesh in 1988. At the young age of 31, Shivraj was elected to the state legislative assembly from the Budhni constituency. He defeated Congress rival by over 22,000 votes in 1990. After Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee resigned from Vidisha parliamentary seat, Shivraj Singh Chouhan was made BJP candidate, and he won the seat becoming one of the youngest MPs in 1991.
In 1992, he became the General Secretary of Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM). He was re-elected to the 11th Lok Sabha from Vidisha. During this period he was an active member of various Lok Sabha committees on Urban and Rural Development, Human Resource Development, Hindi Salahkar Samiti, and Labour Welfare in 1996. He was re-elected to the 12th Lok Sabha (third term). He was a Member of the Committee on Urban and Rural Development and its Sub-Committee on Ministry of Rural Areas and Employment in 1998-99. This was his fourth consecutive win from Vidisha Loksabha Seat. He became the Chairman of the House Committee (Lok Sabha) and National Secretary of Bhartiya Janta Party in 1999. Shivraj Singh registered the 5th consecutive victory into the 14th Lok Sabha. He was a member of the Committee on Agriculture; member of the Joint Committee on Offices of Profit. He also headed the Housing Committee of Lok Sabha in 2004. He was appointed president of BJP, Madhya Pradesh in 2005. On November 29, 2005, he was elected as the Chief Minister of the state. Shivraj Singh Chauhan was again elected from Budhni, but BJP lost this election against Congress Party. So, he stepped down as CM and Kamalnath took the charge from him and formed the government under the flagship of Congress Party in 2018.
