Shiv Pratap Shukla is a famous Indian politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Lawyer/Advocate, Social Worker, and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), the upper house of the Indian Parliament from the state of Uttar Pradesh. He was born on 1 April 1952 (age 69 years according to 2021) in Rudrapur (Khajni), Distt. Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh), India. His father’s name is Late Shri Ramashanker Shukla and his mother’s name is Late Shrimati Parvati Devi. His educational qualification is B.A., LL.B. Educated at Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He is married to Shrimati Janaki Shukla on 11 December 1980 and has three daughters.
Shiv Pratap Shukla started his political career as candidate of Bharatiya Janata Party. He was first elected a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council for four consecutive terms (1989 – 91, 1991 – 93, 1993 – 96, and 1996 – 2002). In between, he was appointed to the Cabinet Minister of Government of Uttar Pradesh for 1991 – 93 and 1996-2002. In 2016, he was elected to the Rajya Sabha from the state of Uttar Pradesh. He has been appointed the Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance. Currently, he is serving as a member of the Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice, a member of the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, member of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Gorakhpur, member of Business Advisory Committee, member of General Purposes Committee and Chairman of Committee on Ethics.
