Sharmila Tagore a famous Indian actress born on 8 December 1944 at Kanpur, India to Gitindranath Tagore who was a general manager of British India Corporation and Ira Tagore. Sharmila got her education from St. John’s Diocesan Girl’s Higher Secondary School and Loreto Convent, Asano. Sharmila knows for her work in Hindi cinema and as well as in Bengali Cinema.
Her first film debut was when she was just a 13-year-old school girl. She left schooling because Within a short while her attendance level and performances rapidly goes down at that time she came to be regarded as a bad influence on her classmates, at that time she was faced with a choice of either doing films or studying further, at that time her father advised her to move ahead in life and commit herself in films and give it her all to become successful. She went with father’s advice and started doing films and to become a successful Indian actress credits goes to her supporting parents whom never let her down.
In 1959 Sharmila acted in Bengali film “Satyajit Ray” as a ill-fated bride. Later in 1964, Sharmila appeared in “Kashmir Ki Kali” which was a film of Shakti Samanta . Shakti Samanta casted her in many more films (An Evening In Paris). In 1975 she starred in Gulzar’s film “Mausam” and won the National Film Award For Best Actress. She became the highest paid actress of bollywood from 1970 to 1976. She has honoured by two Filmfare awards ad two National film awards.
She married with Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, the Nawab of Pataudi who was a former captian of the Indian cricket team, their Nikah ceremony was held on 27 December, 1969. Sharmila converted to Islam upon marriage and changed her name to Begum Ayesha Sultana Khan. The couple blessed with three chidren (Saif Ali Khan, Saba Ali Khan ans Soha Ali Khan). Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi died on 22 September, 2011 at the age of 70. Sharmila requested Broad of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) though wrote a letter for the upcoming series between India and England in November 2012 to recognised as the Pataudi Trophy to the winning team which was commissioned by the MCC in 2007. In 2017 Sharmila walked as a showtopper at India Runway week for Designer Rohin Gugnani.
