She is a good interior designer. She made her first blockbuster film “Mohabbatein” in 2000. Her role of Ishika won the IIFA award for the star of the day. She did her graduation in commerce from Syner Denham College. And side by side she did her fashion designing course from SNDT College Mumbai. After that, she started working with Manish Malhotra. But Manish saw the spark in her eyes and suggested for the acting career. Then she decided to follow her dream of interior designing and did her first project by designing Royalty club in Mumbai IN 2011. Later, she did a diploma in interior designing from Central Saint Martins and Inch Bald school of designing in London.

She made her first film with The Yashraj Films blockbuster Mohabbatein in the year 2000. This film was directed by Aditya Chopra her role of Ishika won the title of the star of the year in the IIFA Award 2001. After that, she gave the biggest dance numbers to Bollywood which was “Sharara Sharara” from Mere Yaar Ki Shadi Hai (2001) and “Chori Pe Chori” from Saathiya(2002). In 2005, she appeared in the film Zeher. Her acting earned her the star of the year- Female at Stardust Awards in 2006. In the same year, she appeared in the film Fareb, where she worked with her sister Shilpa Shetty. She has also appeared in multi- star-cast projects including Bewafa (2005) and Cash (2007). Later, she decided to focus on her love dream of Interior Designing. She designed the Royalty club in Mumbai, Chandigarh Iosis Spa (by which she won the best Interior Award at Asia Spa Awards) and some other buildings. She has her own registered company named “Golden Leaf Interiors”. Her goodness for entertainment industry brings her back and she came back to the reality show Big Boss. Other countries know the show as Big Brother on the television. But because of her sister Shilpa Shetty’s marriage, she came out from the Big Boss house on 14^th November 2009 (day 41). She was the only contestant in the Big Boss house, who was not nominated even once in 41 days. After that, she participated in the television show – Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa on Colors. Shamita gave an advertisement of Pantene along with Shilpa Shetty for one year. She has appeared with brands Audi and IIJAS jewellery. Recently, Shamita did the web series “Yo Ke Hua Bro” directed by Suparn Verma.
