His educational qualification is Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Legislative Law, Diploma in Journalism, Masters of Legislative Law (LL.M.) from Bhavnagar University, Bhavnagar, Saurashtra University, Rajkot, Gujarat. His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He is Unmarried.
Shaktisinh Harishchandrasinhji Gohil started his political career as a member of Gujarat Legislative Assembly for four terms 1990-95, 1995-98, and 2007-2012 from Bhavnagar South constituency and in 2014-17 from Abdasa constituency. In between, he was appointed to the Minister of Finance, education, health and planning, Gujarat for 1991-95, Chief Whip of Congress Legislature Party, Gujarat Legislative Assembly for 1995-98, Leader of the opposition, Gujarat for 2007-12 and Chairman of public accounts committee, Gujarat for 2014-17. In 2020, he was elected to the Rajya Sabha from the state of Gujarat. Currently, he is serving as a member of Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Defence, member of Public Accounts Committee, member of Sub-Committee V (Implementation of recommendations of PAC) of the Public Accounts Committee, member of Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture and Convenor of Sub-Committee I (Civil) of the Public Accounts Committee.
