Saumitra Khan is an Indian politician. He was born on December 8, 1980 (age 40 years), in Durlabhpur, Distt. Bankura, West Bengal, India. He is a Member of the Lok Sabha since 2014. He did his study at Panchmura Mahavidyalaya. His father’s name is Shri Dhananjoy Khan and his mother’s name is Smt. Chhaya Rani Khan. He married Smt. Sujata Mondal.
Saumitra Khan won the West Bengal Assembly Elections and became a member of the Legislative Assembly from the Katulpur seat. He fought the election on Congress ticket and defeated Purnima Bagdi of CPM in 2011. He became a Member of, Consultative Committee, Ministry of Urban Development, Housing, and Urban Poverty Alleviation in 2014. From 1 Sep. 2014 to 31 Aug. 2016 he was the Member of the Standing Committee on Energy. He was elected to the 16th Lok Sabha after defeating Susmita Bauri of CPM from the Bishnupur constituency in 2014. He became a Member of the Standing Committee on Commerce in 2016. He won the Indian general election in, 2014 being an All India Trinamool Congress candidate.
