His educational qualification is Bachelor of Arts from S.N.S.Y. College, Rambagh, Purnea, Bihar. His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He married Smt. Santosh Kumar Kushwaha started his career as a candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party and was first appointed as a Member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly from Baisi (Vidhan Sabha constituency) for 2010-14. After that, he joined Janata Dal (United) and was elected to the 16th Lok Sabha from the Purnea constituency in 2014. In 16th Lok sabha, he was appointed as a member of Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice, member of Committee on Private Members` Bills and Resolutions, member of Consultative Committee for Ministry of Coal, member of Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Gas and member of Committee on Welfare of Other Backward Classes. In 2019, he was re-elected to the 17th Lok Sabha (2nd term) and currently serving as a member of the Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Gas and Rules Committee. He is also part of social and cultural activities as he organizes Seminars on Socio-Political issues, organizing Health & Medical Camps.
