Santokh Singh Chaudhary is a famous Indian politician of the Indian National Congress (INC), Advocate, Businessperson, and the Member of Lok Sabha of India. He was born on 18 June 1946 (age 75 years according to 2021) in Dhaliwal, Jalandhar, Punjab, India. His father’s name is Late Master Gurbanta Singh and his mother’s name is Smt. Sampuran Kaur. His educational qualification is Bachelor of Arts from D.A.V. College, Jalandhar, and LLB from Panjab University. His religion belongs to Hinduism and nationality, Indian. He married Karamjit Kaur on 19 Dec 1976 and was blessed with 1 son named Vikramjeet Chaudhary who is also a politician and general secretary of PPCC.
Santokh Singh Chaudhary started their political career as a member of the Youth Congress and served as the Senior Vice President of Punjab Youth Congress from 1978 – 1982. He was appointed as President of District Congress Committee, Jalandhar (Rural) for 1987 – 1995. He has also been a member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly for two terms. For the period of 1992 to 1995, he was appointed as General Secretary of Punjab Congress Legislature Party, Chairman of Committee on Welfare of Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes and Committee on Subordinate Legislation of Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Chief Parliamentary Secretary (in Incharge of Rural Development & panchayats, Parliamentary Affairs, and Power Departments), Chief Parliamentary Secretary (Incharge of Rural Development & panchayats, Parliamentary Affairs, and Power Departments), Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of Punjab and Cabinet Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, Govt. of Punjab. Later he was made General Secretary of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee in 1997 and Cabinet Minister for Social Security, Women & Child Development, Social Welfare, Medical Education and Research Department, Govt. of Punjab in 2002.
He has also been worked at the position of Vice President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. In 2014, he was elected to 16th Lok Sabha from Jalandhar Constituency and made member of Committee on Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, Standing Committee on Social Justice and Empowerment, Consultative Committee, Ministry of Urban and Development of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation. He was re-elected to 17th Lok Sabha (2nd term) and made a member of Member, Committee on Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, Consultative Committee, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports.
