Sanjaya Baru is an Indian Political Commentator and a former journalist who born in 1954 in Hyderabad. He is a Policy analyst also. He studied about Centre of Development Studies. He served as Secretary General of the Foundation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and then he gave resignation in 2018. Before this, he was a Director for Strategy and Geo-Economics at the International Institute of Strategic Studies.
From May 2004 to August 2008, Sanjaya Baru is also a media advisor and chief spokesperson of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. He has also worked as associate editor for The Times of India and The Economic Times. Later, he worked as Chief Editor at Business Standard. His father B.P.R. Vithal was planning and financial secretary during Dr. Manmohan Singh’s incumbency as Secretary of Finance in the Government of India.
In April 2014, “The Accidental Prime Minister” published by Penguin India in which Sanjaya Baru tell all the Memoir about his time at the Prime Minister’s Office. In it, he said that the Prime Minister was totally subservient to Congress President Sonia Gandhi. He said that he set out to show an empathetic portrait of the prime minister.
Rudra Production Limited and Pen Studios released a film based on Baru’s Book with the same title “The Accidental Prime Minister” in which actor Akshaye Khanna played the role of Sanjaya Baru, a Media advisor of the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. In this film, Anupam Kher appeared as Manmohan Singh, Suzanne Bernert as Sonia Gandhi and Arjun Mathur as Rahul Gandhi.
