His educational qualification is M.A. (History), LL.B. from Annamalai University and Central Law College, Salem. His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He is married Smt. Krishnaveni P on 15 Feb 1996 and has two sons. He loves playing Cricket, Planting trees, and reading books. He has been visited Malaysia, Singapore.
S. R. Parthiban started his political career when he joined the Desiya Murpokku Dravidar Kazhagam and was elected to a member of Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly for 2011 - 2016 from the Mettur constituency. In 2016, he joined Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). After that, he contested for 17th Lok Sabha from Salem Constituency in 2019. He won that position and made a record because after 38 years DMK had registered a winning result in this constituency. Currently, he is serving as a member of the Standing Committee on Science & Technology, Environment & Forests, Standing Committee on Coal and Steel and Consultative Committee, Ministry of Electronics and Information & Technology, Ministry of Communications. He is also part of social and cultural activities as he is a President of Salem District Consumer Council, Salem Police & Public Solidarity Movement, Green Velly Sports Club, Salem, and Honorary President of Pollution Control Association.
