He was born on 5 October 1943 (age 78 years according to 2021) in Allahabad, United Provinces, British India and belongs to a Bhumihar family. His father’s name is Late Kunwar Madhvendra Prasad Narain Singh and his mother’s name is Late Kunwarani Girish Kumari. His educational qualification is B.A., LL.B. His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He is married to Late Shrimati Beena Singh on 18 June 1967 and has two children one son and one daughter.
Kunwar Rewati Raman Singh started his political career as a candidate of Janata Dal and later joined Samajwadi Party. He was first elected to the Member of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly for 1974-78, 1982- 93, and 1996- 2004 (eight terms). He has been appointed to the Minister for State, Small Scale Industries, Government of Uttar Pradesh for 1977- 79, Cabinet Minister of Power, Government of Uttar Pradesh for 1979- 80, Cabinet Minister of Irrigation, Small Scale Industries and Environment, Government of Uttar Pradesh for 1989- 90 and Cabinet Minister of Transport, Government of Uttar Pradesh for 2003- 2004. In 2004, he was elected to the Fourteenth Lok Sabha, re-elected to Fifteenth Lok Sabha (second term) in 2009, and in 2016, he was elected to the Rajya Sabha from the state of Uttar Pradesh. Currently, he is serving as a member of the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and a member of the Committee on Water Resources.
