Ravi Shankar Prasad is an Indian political personality. He was born on August 30, 1954 (age 67 years), in Patna, India. He did his study at Patna University, Patna Collegiate School. His father’s name is Late Shri Thakur Prasad and his mother’s name is Shrimati Bimla Prasad.
Ravi Shankar Prasad was an advocate before he forayed into politics and was elected to Rajya Sabha for four terms. An avid proponent of all things digital, he predominantly coined the Digital India phrase and cemented its ethos into India's e-governance. He's credited for bringing digital TV to India and his work on cyber security, data privacy, and several new e-governance activities that navigated the country to a new landscape of Digital India. He was first elected to Rajya Sabha in 2000 and served as a Minister in the Vajpayee's administration in 2001-2003. He was a lawyer at Patna High Court in 1980. He was re-elected to Rajya Sabha to serve a fourth term in 2018. In 2019, he was subsequently appointed Minister of law and justice, Minister of communications, and Minister of electronics and information technology. Ravi Shankar Prasad stepped down from all ministerial positions in Modi Cabinet on 7 July 2021.
