He was born on 9 April 1978 (age 43 years according to 2021) in Dandamunda, Nabarangpur, Odisha, India. His father’s name is Shri Jadav Majhi and his mother’s name is Smt. Balamati Majhi. His educational qualification is Bachelor of Arts from Panabeda College, Chandahandi, Odisha. His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He married Smt. Tapasi Majhi on 09 May 2006 and has two children one son and one daughter. He loves to Reading Books, Meets friends and relatives, and help the poor.
Ramesh Chandra Majhi started his political career as a Member of Panchayat Samiti of Dhodipani Gram Panchayat in 1997 and then became a member of Zilla Parishad Chandahandi in 2002. He has been Chairman of Panchayat Samiti of Chandahandi, Distt. Nabarangpur. After that, he joined Biju Janata Dal and was first elected to the Member of Odisha Legislative Assembly for consecutive three terms (2004 - 2019). In between, he served as a Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Information Technology, Science & Technology, Government of Odisha for 2009 – 2011, Minister of State for Fishery & Animal Resources, S.T. Development, Government of Odisha for 2011-12, Minister of State for Sports, Youth Affairs, Science and Technology, Government of Odisha for 2012-14, Minister of State for Commerce and Transport, Government of Odisha for 2014-17 and Cabinet Minister of ST/SC, OBC, Mines and Backward Classes, Government of Odisha for 2017-19. In 2019, he was elected to the 17th Lok Sabha from Nabarangpur (Odisha) Constituency with which he was made a member of the Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism, and Culture and a member of Consultative Committee, Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
