Ram Gopal Yadav is a famous Indian politician of the Samajwadi Party, Teacher and Educationist, Social Worker, and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), the upper house of the Indian Parliament from the state of Uttar Pradesh. He was born on 29 June 1946 (age 75 years according to 2021) in Village Saifai, Distt. Etawah (Uttar Pradesh), India. His father’s name is Late Shri Bachchi Lal and his mother’s name is Late Shrimati Phoolwati. His educational qualification is M.Sc. (Physics), M.A. (Political Science), Ph.D. educated at Agra University, Agra and Kanpur University, Kanpur. His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He is married to Late Shrimati Phoolan Devi on 4 May 1962 and has three children two sons and one daughter.
Ram Gopal Yadav was first worked as a professor as he has been Lecturer at the Department of Physics, K.K. Post Graduate College, Etawah, 1969-1974, Lecturer and Reader of Department of Political Science, K.K. Post Graduate College, Etawah, 1974-1994 and Principal of Chaudhary Charan Singh P.G. College, Heonra, Etawah, 1994-2006. After that, he started his political career as a candidate of the Samajwadi Party. He has also been the Leader of the Samajwadi Party Parliamentary Group in Rajya Sabha from 1994-to 2004. He has been General Secretary of the Samajwadi Party since 1996 – 2017. He was first elected to the Rajya Sabha in 1992, re-elected to Rajya Sabha (second term) in 1998, Rajya Sabha (third term) in 2008, Rajya Sabha (fourth term) in 2014, Rajya Sabha (fifth term) in 2020. He has also been elected to the Fourteenth Lok Sabha for 2004-2008. His published books in Hindi: (i) Dr. Lohiya Ka Samajwad and (ii) Sansad Main Meri Baat. Currently, he is serving as a Secretary-General of the Samajwadi Party since October 2017.
