Penmetsa Ram Gopal Varma aka Ram Gopal Varma born in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India to parents Krishna Varma and Suryamma is a Director and Producer for Telugu and Hindi cinema. Ram has graduated from V. R. Siddhartha Engineering College, Vijayawada in BE in Civil Engineering, and he was also a site engineer for Krishna Oberoi hotel in Hyderabad. In his beginning of the career, he was the 4^th Assistant to B. Gopal for his film Collector Gari Abbai, after this, he made his debut as the director with movie Siva in 1989. Gopal has always been attracted towards the movie, he used to bunk his classes and watch the movie, and if he liked a particular scene, he would watch it over and over again. For his first movie he was honoured with Nandi Award for Best Director, also for Best First Film of a Director, also he was awarded Filmfare Award for Best Film – Telugu. His next movie was the Hindi Remake of Shiva in 1990 in Bollywood, his next Telugu movie was Kshana Kshanam in 1991, and also it was dubbed in Hindi as Hairaan, and won the prestigious Nandi Award for Best Director road movie. In 1992 he came up with 2movies, one Telugu movie Drohi and one Hindi movie Antham in 1992, from 1992 till 2012, he worked in over 44 Hindi movies, 16 Telugu movies and 2 Tamil movies. Ram was now recognized as an Ace Filmmaker, his some movies were flop, and some were Hit, but his direction skills always impressed the critics and audiences. In 2013 he came up with a Hindi movie based on real life incident, The Attacks of 26/11, next was a thriller movie named Psycho in Telugu Language, and his one more was Satya which was released in both Hindi and Telugu Language, in the year 2014 Varma did 5 Telugu movies which are Rowdy, Ice Cream, Anukshanam, Ice Cream 2, and one was a silent film named A Day in the life of Lakshmi Manchu’s Feet, it was a short film, after this his romantic Telugu movie was 365 Days, he also made his debut in Kannada cinema with movie Killing Veerappan in 2016, his next movie was Telugu movie Attack in 2016, and Vangaveeti and one Hindi movie named Veerappan, in 2017 he came with his Sarkar franchise i.e. Sarkar 3 in Hindi Cinema, one short film named Meri Beti Sunny Leone Banna Chaahti Hai, and Rai, and one Biographical movie of N. T. Rama Rao i.e. Lakshmi’s N. T. R. and one English movie named Nuclear. Ram has also Directed two Web Series, one was Guns and Thighs in the Hindi Language, and his upcoming Telugu web series named Kadapa. He has also been awarded the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi for movie School in 1999, and also he has won many big awards and got nominated in various categories.
