Rajeev Chandrasekhar is a famous Indian politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Entrepreneur, Social Worker, and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), the upper house of the Indian Parliament from the state of Karnataka. He was born on 31 May 1964 (age 57 years according to 2021) in Ahmedabad (Gujarat), India. His father’s name is Air Commodore M.K.Chandrasekhar (Retd.) and his mother’s name is Shrimati Valli Chandrasekhar. His educational qualification is B.E. (Electrical Engg.), Masters in Computer Science, Advanced Management Programme from Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal (Karnataka), Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, and Harvard University, Boston (U.S.A.). His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He is married to Shrimati Anju Chandrasekhar and has two children one son and one daughter.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar was first worked as an Entrepreneur at BPL Group in 1991. After that, he founded BPL Mobile in 1994, Jupiter Capital in 2005. He has also been awarded an honorary doctorate by Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum, for his work as an entrepreneur. After that he joined politics as he was first made Member of Advisory Committee, Ministry of Information Technology, Government of India and Chairman of Infrastructure Task Force, Government of Karnataka for 1999-2002. Also, he was a member of, the Prime Minister’s Council on Trade and Development for 1999 – 2003. In 2006, he was elected to the Rajya Sabha from the state of Karnataka and re-elected to Rajya Sabha (second term) in 2012, Rajya Sabha (third term) in 2018.
Currently, he s serving as a Co-Chairman, Vigilance and Monitoring Committee, Bangalore Urban District since 2009, member of Member, Indian Council of World Affairs since 2020, National Spokesperson of BJP, Vice Chairman, VIF Centre for Economic Studies since 2006, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology since 2021.
