He was born on 2 August 1960 (age 61 years according to 2021) in Chikhali, Nanded, Maharashtra, India. His father’s name is Shri Govindrao Patil Chikhalikar and his mother’s name is Smt. Vatsala Bai Chikhalikar. His educational qualification is Bachelor of Arts from Yashwant Mahavidyalaya, Nanded, Maharashtra. His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He married Pratibha Patil Chikhalikar on 02 Apr 1978 and has two sons and one daughter. He has been widely traveled to Australia, Dubai, Malaysia, New Zealand, and Singapore. He is related to clubs of sports of Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Racing, Football and he loves to listen to music, interest in sport and traveling for the benefit of society, etc.
Prataprao Govindrao Chikhalikar started his political career by being Vice-President of Zila Parishad of Nanded for 14 years (1983 – 1997). In between, he was appointed as Sarpanch of Nanded for 1989 – 1992 and Chairperson of Zila Parishad, Nanded. After that in 2001, he was made Chairperson of Finance and Public Works Committee, Zila Parishad, Nanded and Chairman of Nanded Zila Parishad Arth Even Vahyakam Parishad. He was made Vice-Chairman of Nanded Zila Madhyavarti, Sahkari Bank (2003 – 2005). In 2004, he became a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly for continuously three terms. Then he was elected to 17th Lok Sabha from Nanded, Maharashtra Constituency for the first time and became a member of the Standing Committee on Chemicals & Fertilisers, Consultative Committee, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (Permanent Special Invitee), Consultative Committee, Ministry of Steel. He did some Social and Cultural Activities as well as he continuously strived for the upliftment of the poor people in the Constituency and to provide education, employment, medical facilities to them, and making efforts to benefit the people with the schemes of the Government.
