Pratap Simha is a Member of Parliament from the 17th Lok Sabha of India. He was born on June 21, 1976 (age 45 years), in Belur, India. He is a Member of the Lok Sabha since 2014. His father’s name is Shri B.E. Gopal Gowda and his mother’s name is Smt. Pushpa. He married Smt. Arpitha J.S.
He started his career as a Journalist in Vijaya Karnataka Newspaper, a daily mail published in Karnataka. Soon he came in limelight for his column `Bettale Jagattu'(The naked world) which was filled with a sharp and critical outlook towards the world. In 2008, He wrote a biography on Sri Narendra Modi titled ` Narendra Modi: Yaaru Thuliyada Haadi'(Narendra Modi: The Untrodden Road). He joined politics in 2014 and soon became the president of BJP Yuva Morcha. He contested in the 2014 Lokasabha election from the Mysore constituency and won over his opponent by a huge margin of 32000 votes. He is also a member of the Press Council of India. He was appointed as Member, Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture and Member, Consultative Committee, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and Shipping on Sep 1, 2014. Pratap Simha was elected to 16th Lok Sabha from the Mysore-Kodagu Lokasabha constituency in 2014. He was appointed as a Member of, Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) on Jan 7, 2015. Later on April 21, 2015, he became a Member of the Press Council of India. He was appointed as a Member of the Spices Board in 2017.
