Pratap K. Pothen is also known as Pratap Pothen is a popular and well known Indian writer, director, producer, and actor. He was born on 10th October 1952 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. His father is Late Kolathinkal Pothen who was a respected Businessman. Pratap went to Lawrence School, Lovedale, Ooty to finish his secondary education. Later to complete his graduation he got admission to Madras Christian College, Madras.
He started his career as a copywriter in an ad agency and later joined the Sistas ad agency. But his passion for movies always pushed him to do what he loves. In 1978 he made his acting debut with the Malayalam movie Aaravam portraying the role of Kokkarakko. He has been a part of many super hit movies. Recently, he was seen in the Tamil movie Ponmagal Vandhal in 2020. As he was doing movies, his interest in Direction took place and he directed many Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam movies.
Pratap’s married life was not very successful, he married twice. First, he was married to popular actress Radhika in 1985 but the couple filed for divorce and they parted their ways in 1986. Later he married Amala Satyanath Pothen in 1990 and the couple is blessed with a daughter named Keya in 1991.
