In 2002-03, she started her career as was part of the Fiba Asia Basketball Championship for Junior Women Chinese, Taipei. She won her first Gold at the national level at the 53rd Senior National Basketball Championship in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh in 2003 and first gold at the international level at First Phuket International Invitational Basketball Championship, Thailand in 2006. Prashanti represented the national team at the 2006 Commonwealth Games as Point Guard. In 2010, she became captain of the international Indian basketball team and played at 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou, China. She was part of the 2016 South Asian Games which was held in Guwahati as captain and won all the matches. She has been awarded Rani Laxmi Bai Bravery Award 2016–17 by the Government of Uttar Pradesh, the Arjuna Award in 2017, Padma Shri in 2019, and many more. She has a prestigious collection of more than 22 medals.
