Pradan Baruah is a famous Indian politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Social Worker, Agriculturist, and the Member of Parliament of India. He was born on 30 April 1965 (age 56 years according to 2021) in Amritpur, Silapather, Dhemaji, Assam, India. His father’s name is Late Shri Mathura Baruah and his mother’s name is Late Smt. Bhatyavati Baruah. His educational qualification is a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering educated at Dibrugarh Polytechnic College, Assam. His religion belongs to Hinduism and nationality, Indian. He married Arunima Baruah on 11 May 1993 and was blessed with 2 daughters. He has been widely traveled to Hongkong and Macau (China), Nepal, and Thailand. His hobbies are listening to Music, Drama, and arranging Folk Dance programs.
Pradan Baruah was the first member of the Indian National Congress and has been a Member of the Assam Legislative Assembly for continuously four Terms (1996-2006, 2011-2016) and was appointed as Parliamentary Secretary, Govt. of Assam (2014 – 2016). In 2016, he joined Bharatiya Janata Party as he was first elected to 16th Lok Sabha in a bye-election in 2016 and maintained his position in parliament in 17th Lok Sabha in 2019. He was a member of the Standing Committee on Urban Development, Member of Consultative Committee, Ministry of Agriculture, and Member of National Jute Board in the period of 2017 to 2019. He did some Social and Cultural Activities as well as he actively participated and organized various awareness programs for Literacy, Health, and Skills Development in the Rural Areas in Assam, Engaged in many Social & Cultural activities, organized Seminars and youth awareness programs, upliftment the youth, interacting with the youth and involved in public health programs. Also has a special interest to serve the people of Assam in the Education and Health Sectors. He has also been an executive member of All Assam Students Union (AASU) 1988-90, central executive member of Assam Gana Parishad (AGP) 1998, and General Secretary of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee 2004-2006. Currently, he is a Member of Committee on Estimates, Member of Standing Committee on Science & Technology, Environment & Forests and Climate change, Member of the Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law, and Justice and a Member of the Consultative Committee, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs since 2019.
