He was born 2 January 1952 (age 69 years according to 2021) in Bali, Distt. Pali (Rajasthan), India. His father’s name is Late Shri Chand Raj Mathur and his mother’s name is Late Shrimati Sajjan Kanwar. His educational qualification is Bachelor of Arts from Rajasthan University, Jaipur. His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He is unmarried. He has been traveled to Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Gulf countries, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai (U.A.E.), U.K., Ireland, and France.
Om Prakash Mathur started his political career as a candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He was first elected to the Rajya Sabha from the state of Rajasthan in 2008 and re-elected to Rajya Sabha (second term) in 2016. Currently, he is serving as a Chairman, House Committee of Member, General Purposes Committee since 2016, Member of Committee on Petroleum and Natural Gas since 2016, Member of Committee on Public Undertakings, member of Committee on Commerce, member of Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare since 2019. He has been General-Secretary (ORG) of Bharatiya Janata Party, Rajasthan for 1990-2000 and State President of BJP Rajasthan for 2008-09. He is also associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (R.S.S.) as a Pracharak since 1972.
