Om Birla is a famous Indian politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), current Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Agriculturist, and Social Worker. He was born on 23 November 1962 (age 58 years according to 2021) in Kota, Rajasthan, India, India. His father’s name is Late Shri Shrikrishna Birla and his mother’s name is Late Smt. Shakuntla Devi. His educational qualification is Master of Commerce from Govt. Commerce College, Kota and Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati Vishwavidyalaya, Ajmer (Rajasthan). His religion belongs to Hinduism and nationality, Indian. He married Dr. Amita Birla on 11 Mar 1991 and has two daughters named Akanksha Birla, Anjali Birla.
Om Birla was the first member of the National Democratic Alliance. He was appointed as District President for 1987- 91, became State President for 1991-97, and National Vice President for 1997–2003 of Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha, Kota. He has been Chairman of CONFED, Jaipur for 1992-95. His first assembly of Rajasthan elections contesting from Kota South was held in 2003. He was elected thrice to the assembly of Rajasthan. He was made Parliamentary Secretary (MoS) of the Government of Rajasthan for 2004-2008. In 2014, he was elected to 16th Lok Sabha for the Kota constituency and became a member of the Committee on Estimates, Committee on Petitions, Standing Committee on Energy, Consultative Committee, Ministry of Social Justice, and Empowerment, and Sub Committee-III, Committee on Estimates. He was re-elected to the 17th Lok Sabha. On 19 June 2019, Birla was elected as the Speaker of the 17th Lok Sabha and positions held as Speaker are Chairperson of Business Advisory Committee, Rules Committee, General Purposes Committee, Standing Committee of All India Presiding Officers’ Conference, and Executive Committee of CPA India Region or President of Indian Parliamentary Group and India Union Branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA).
