He was born on 4 February 1971 (age 50 years according to 2021) in Bajuwala, Ganganagar, Rajasthan, India. His father’s name is Shri Bega Ram Chauhan and his mother’s name is Smt. Surji Devi. His educational qualification is Bachelor of Arts from Shri Nehru S.P Evening College at Bikaner, Rajasthan. His religion belongs to Sikhism and Nationality, Indian. He married Jyoti Chauhan on 17 Apr 1992 and was blessed with 2 children one son and one daughter. He has been widely traveled to Bangladesh & U.S.A. and is Interested in watching Football and Kabaddi. He was also a good player of Hockey and Kabaddi in school days.
Nihal Chand Chauhan was first elected as the pradhan (chief) of the Raisinghnagar panchayat committee in 1995-1996. After that, he joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and was elected to the 11th Lok Sabha from Ganganagar as he became the youngest Member of Parliament (MP) in 1996. He has also been a member of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly in 1998. Then he was re-elected to 13th Lok Sabha (2nd term) in 1999, 14th Lok Sabha in 2004, 16th Lok Sabha in 2014, and 17th Lok Sabha in 2019. In 17th Lok sabha, he is made a member of Standing Committee on Water Resources, Committee on Government Assurances, Consultative Committee, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and Committee on Estimates. He did some Social and Cultural Activities as well as he was deeply involved in social activities to promote rural development to spread awareness about government policy, plans, and procedures in order to improve transparency in the functioning of government, Women's education, empowerment, and poverty alleviation.
