Neeraj Shekhar is a famous Indian politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Social Worker, and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), the upper house of the Indian Parliament from the state of Uttar Pradesh. He was born on 10 November 1968 (age 53 years according to 2021) in Ibrahimpatti, Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, India. His father’s name is Late Shri Chandra Shekhar and his mother’s name is Late Shrimati Duja Devi. His educational qualification is B.A. (Hons.) educated at Atmaram Sanatan Dharma College (ARSD), New Delhi. His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He is married to Dr. Sushma Shekhar on 26 May 2002 and has two daughters.
Neeraj Shekhar started his political career as a candidate of the Samajwadi Party and later joined Bharatiya Janata Party. He was first elected to the Fourteenth Lok Sabha (elected in a by-election) from the Ballia constituency for 2008-2009 and re-elected to Fifteenth Lok Sabha for 2009 - 2014. In 2014, he was elected to the Rajya Sabha from the state of Uttar Pradesh (resigned w.e.f. 15 July 2019), re-elected to Rajya Sabha (second term) in 2019, Rajya Sabha (third term) in 2020. He is also part of social and cultural activities as he is involved with various social and cultural activities in Ballia Constituency pertaining to health, education, youth forums, girl child welfare, maintenance of recreational places, and preservation of the local heritage; also involved in the promotion of art and green revolution, practice and advocate planting of trees. He has introduced 'The Arsenic Contamination (Prevention) Bill, 2017', a Private Member Bill in Rajya Sabha.
