He was born on 19 May 1948 (age 73 years according to 2021) in Jalandhar, East Punjab, India. His father’s name is Late Shri Inder Kumar Gujral (former Prime Minister of India) and his mother’s name is Late Shrimati Sheila Gujral. His educational qualification is B.A., F.C.A. from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, and Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Delhi. His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He is married to Shrimati Anjali Gujral on 13 April 1987 and has two daughters named Deeksha Gujral & Diva Gujral.
Naresh Gujral started his political career as the candidate of Shiromani Akali Dal and was first elected to the Rajya Sabha from the state of Punjab in 2007. He was re-elected to the Rajya Sabha (second term) in 2010, (third term) in 2016. Currently, he is serving as a Member of the Committee on Rules since 2019, member of the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Commerce since 2020, and Industry and member of the Committee on Commerce since 2021. He is also General Secretary of Shiromani Akali Dal He takes interest in the social welfare of women in general and children in particular. He runs an orphanage, a home for destitute women, a free dispensary for the poor, a high school for the underprivileged children and a computer training center and a vocational training center, teaching, stitching, and embroidery to women from the underprivileged sections in Jalandhar under the aegis of Nari Niketan Trust.
