Narendra Damodar Jadhav is a famous Indian politician, Economist, Educationist, Writer, Social Worker, and member of the Rajya Sabha (Nominated), the upper house of the Indian Parliament. He was born on 28 May 1953 (age 68 years according to 2021) in Nashik, Bombay State, India. His father’s name is Shri Damodar and his mother’s name is Shrimati Sonabai. His educational qualification is B.Sc. (Statistics), M.A. (Economics), Ph.D. (Economics) Educated at Mumbai University, and Indiana University, U.S.A. Narendra Damodar Jadhav started his career as a Principal Advisor and Chief Economist of R.B.I from 2004- 2008. In between, he was appointed the Vice-Chancellor of Pune University for 2006-09. He has been a member of the Planning Commission of India and the National Advisory Council also worked as an Adviser in the International Monetary Fund for over four years. In 2016, he was nominated as a member of the Rajya Sabha. Currently, he is serving as a member of the Council of the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore since 2018, a member of the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of External Affairs since 2019, a member of the Committee on Rules, and a member of Committee on Housing and Urban Affairs since 2021. He has also done fabulous work in his writing career as he is an English, Marathi, and Hindi writer.
He has written/edited 38 books-20 in English, 13 in Marathi, and 5 in Hindi, besides over 300 research papers and articles and 31 official reports on a range of public policy issues, a well known public speaker and has delivered at least 50 speeches every year on a wide range of issues-Economic, Social and Cultural. He is awarded 67 national and international awards including four Honorary D.Litt Degrees and the title Commander of the Order of Academic Palms by the Government of France.
