He was born on 2 January 1955 (age 66 years according to 2021) in Mettur, Distt. Salem (Tamil Nadu), India. His father’s name is Shri Nalla Thambi and his mother’s name is Shrimati Paripooranam. His educational qualification is Bachelor of Science from Government Arts College, University of Madras, Salem, Tamil Nadu. His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He is married to Shrimati Renuka on 13 September 1982 and has three children one son and two daughters.
N. Chandrasegharan has been the Chairman of Mettur Urban Co-operative Society, Mettur for 2014-2019 and Director of Salem Central Co-operative Bank, Salem for 2014-2019. He started political his career as a candidate of the Congress party and was first elected to the Rajya Sabha from the state of Tamil Nadu with which he was made a member of the Committee on Social Justice and Empowerment, member of Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, member of Committee on the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and member of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Madurai (Tamil Nadu).
