N. Bhaskara Rao is a famous Indian politician of the Biju Janata Dal, Social Worker, and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), the upper house of the Indian Parliament from the state of Odisha. He was born on 23 July 1953 (age 68 years according to 2021) in Rajahmundry, Distt. East Godavari (Andhra Pradesh), India. His father’s name is Late Shri N.S.N. Chowdary and his mother’s name is Shrimati N. Rama Ratnam. His educational qualification is Bachelor of Commerce from Alagappa University, Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu. His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He is married to Shrimati Nekkanti Chamundeswari Devi on 28 April 1980 and has two children one son and one daughter.
Nekkanti Bhaskar Rao was the first Councillor of Rayagada Municipality, Odisha from 1997 – 2001. After that he was appointed to the Chairman of Orissa Tourism Development Corporation, Odisha for 2002-04, Chairman of Orissa Rural Housing Development Corporation 2009-11, Chairman, Orissa Small Industries Corporation Ltd. for 2011 – 2014 and Deputy Chairman, Planning Board, Government of Odisha for 2014-16. In 2016, he joined politics actively and was first elected to the Rajya Sabha from the state of Odisha. Currently, he is serving as a member of the Committee on Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) since 2018, member of the Committee on Science and Technology, Environment, Forests and Climate Change, and Member of Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Food Processing Industries since 2019. He is also State Vice-President of B.J.D. since March 2016, and a Member of the State Executive Committee, B.J.D. since 2010.
