His educational qualification is B.A. LL.B. from Kashmir University and Aligarh Muslim University, U.P. His religion belongs to Islam and Nationality, Indian. He married Smt. Aisha Begum on 24 Nov 1968 and has three sons. He loves to Reading books and does Social activities.
Mohammad Akbar Lone started his political career as a member of the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly for consecutive three terms (2002 – 2018). In between, he was appointed to the Deputy Speaker of Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly for 2002 -2008, Speaker of Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly for 2009 - 2013, and Minister of Hr. Education, Government of Jammu & Kashmir for 2013 – 2014. He is one of those candidates who are elected first time in parliament as he was elected to 17th Lok Sabha in 2019 from Baramulla (Jammu and Kashmir) constituency and became a member of the Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice, member of Standing Committee on Water Resource Development and member of Consultative Committee, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.
