Mamatha Poojary is a famous Indian women’s kabaddi player and former captain of the Indian women’s kabaddi team. She was born on Oct 23, 1986 (age 35 years according to 2021) in Karkala taluk, Udupi district, Karnataka India. Her father’s name is Boja Poojary (a farmer), her mother’s name is Kitti Poojary, and has Siblings namely Vishwanath Poojary, Madhura Poojary. She did her schooling at Hermunde and Ajekar and graduated from Shree Gokarnatheshwara College, Mangalore. Her religion belongs to is Hinduism and nationality, Indian. Her height is 178cm, 1.78m, 5 feet, and 10 inches and her weight is 76kg, in pounds 167 lbs. In 2013 she married Abhishek Kotian.
Mamatha Poojary made her national debut at 52nd Senior National Kurukshetra Haryana 2004. She was part of 53rd Senior National Uppal Andhra Pradesh 2007 and won the title of Best Player, was part of gold medal-winning team at 56th Senior National New Delhi 2008 also won the title of Best All-Rounder. She played her first match as captain at 58th Senior National Byndoor Karnataka in 2011 and many more. She made her international debut in 2006 as she first played at south Asia games held in Colombo and won Gold. After that, she played at the 10th SAAF Games 2006 held in Sri Lanka and won gold. She was also part of the 2nd and 3rd Asian Kabbadi Championship also won gold at both times. She played and won gold at the 4th Asian Indoor and martial games 2013 held in South Korea. Under her captaincy India won many medals as gold at the 3rd Asian Beach Games held in China, gold at the 1st Asian Beach Games 2008 held in Indonesia, gold at the 2nd Asian Beach Games 2010 held in Oman. She has been part of the gold medal-winning Indian team at the 17th Asian Games 2014 held in South Korea. She has also been honored with many awards like Rajyotsava Prashasti, Arjuna Award, Eklavya Award, and many more. She is currently employed by the South-Central Railways Zone of Indian Railways.
