She did her schooling from "The Frank Anthony Public School, Bangalore". Lara was born to a Punjabi father and an Anglo Indian mother. She has two sisters, her elder sister Sabrina and younger sister Cheryl. In 1981, Lara Dutta was moved to Bangalore with her family. She passed her graduation in economics and minor communication from the "University of Mumbai". She is a fluent speaker of English, Hindi, Punjabi and Kannada. In 1995, Dutta won the annual Gladrags Megamodel India competition in India. Later she was crowned as Miss Intercontinental in 1997. In 2005, Dutta comes into sight in Kaal which achieved moderate success at the box office. Then she came with the biggest hit in 2005, No Entry with Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan, Fardeen Khan, Bipasha Basu, Esha Deol and Celina Jaitley. Then she gave another hit of that year, Dosti: Friends Forever. In 2006, Dutta appeared in most of the films like Bhagam Bhag, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, Partner, Om Shanti Om, Jumbo, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Blue etc. In 2015, she appeared in movie Singh is Bling, The film became a financial success, grossing over 1.16 billion worldwide. In 2016, she played the role 'Leena Becker' in the movie Fitoor. Now in 2018, she appeared in the film Welcome to New York. Lara Dutta had nine relationships in her career with Kelly Dorji. She briefly dated American Professional baseball shortstop Derek Jeter. In September 2010, she got engaged to Indian tennis player, Mahesh Bhupathi.
