Lalit Kumar Upadhyay is an Indian field hockey player. He was born on 01 December 1993 in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. His height is 5 feet and 10 inches. His marital status is unmarried. He is passionate about sports particularly hockey since childhood. Therefore, he wants to make his career in sports. When he was six years old he decided to start playing hockey after watching his older brother because he is also a hockey player. Due to injuries he quit playing but he got a job through playing hockey. Since he was not inclined much towards studies, he decided to take hockey as a career. Older brother Amit Upadhyay, and coach Parmanand Mishra is the hero of Lalit Kumar Upadhyay.
He plays as a forward or midfielder for the Indian national team. He has a recognizable contribution to the Indian team. He transformed from a young inexperienced lad to an amazing and talented individual. The Varanasi boy has been involved in multiple international competitions for India. He has participated in the 4th nation tournament in Malaysia in 2009, Hong kong invitation tournament in 2010, Muscat (Oman) league 2012, and Europe international tour, holland 2013.
Lalit Kumar Upadhayay has many awards and achievements to his credit He had a huge role to play in the 2017 Men's Hockey Asia Cup which was held in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He scored multiple goals to put India in the driving seat of the tournament, and his goal in the 22nd minute of the final match against Malaysia was the difference in score to win India the gold medal. He was also a part of Team India’s squad which participated in the recent 2018 Men's Hockey Champions Trophy held in Breda, Netherlands. He has also participated in Domestic hockey tournaments like the Obaidullah gold cup in 2012, the 2012 Surjit Singh hockey tournament, and the Nehru hockey tournament in 2012, and the Best player of the tournament in the Beighton Cup, Kolkata in 2010. He was also the Player of the tournament in Bangalore league in 2011 and was also the Player of the tournament in all India university zonal in 2012 and He has more than 20 International caps for team India and will be looking to increase that number with the opportunity to shine in the upcoming Hockey World Cup.
