Khagen Murmu is a famous Indian politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Social Worker, and Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from Maldaha Uttar (West Bengal) Constituency. He was born on 2 February 1960 (age 61 years according to 2021) in Shekhpara, Malda, West Bengal, India. His father’s name is Late Shri Jalo Murmu and his mother’s name is Late Smt. Sakro Hembrom. His educational qualification is Bachelor of Arts from Magadh University, Patna. His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He married Manju Kisku on 10 May 1985 and has four children three sons and one daughter.
Khagen Murmu Started Political Leadership at age of 17 under Student Organization DYFI in 1978. After that, he joined CPIM District Leadership in 1983. He has been Member of Zila Parishad, Maldah, West Bengal for two terms (1993 – 2003), Vice-President of Malda Zila Parishad for 1998 – 2003, Member of All India Kisan Sabha as State and Central Committee 1998- 2019, Chairman of MLA Hostel for 2006-11, and chairman of BEUP, West Bengal Legislative Assembly. In 2019, he joined Under the World Largest Political party - Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and was first elected to 17th Lok Sabha from Maldaha Uttar (West Bengal) with which he was made Whip of BJP, Lok Sabha, member of Standing Committee on Food, Consumer Affairs, and Public Distribution, and member of Consultative Committee, Ministry of Jal Shakti Permanent Special Invitee, Ministry of Power and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
