He was born on 04 May 1957 (age 64 years according to 2021) in Falater, Dungarpur, Rajasthan, India. His father’s name is Shri Nagji Katara and his mother’s name is Smt. Khatri Devi. His educational qualification is B.A., B.Ed. from Kota Open University, Rajasthan. His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He married Radha Devi and has four sons and one daughter. He loves to read the newspaper, watching television. He is also part of the club of sports Hockey and special interest in Kabaddi and Volleyball at the State level. He has a special interest in literature, bhajans, music, musical instruments like dholak, tabla, harmonium, flute, etc.
Kanak Mal Katara started his career as a worker of Dungar Vidya Niketan Institute, Rajasthan from 1977-1993 and Sagwara, Teh. Sagwara District Dungarpur, Rajasthan for 1982-1993. After that, he joined Bharatiya Janata Party and was elected to Member of Rajya Sabha from Sagwara in Dungarpur district for 1994 – 2000. In 2002, he was made a member of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly for two terms and Cabinet Minister of Government of Rajasthan for 2003 – 2008. In 2019, he was elected to 17th Lok Sabha from Banswara Constituency with which he became a member of the Standing Committee on Agriculture, member of the Committee on Absence of Members from the Sittings of the House, and member of Consultative Committee, Ministry of Tribal Affairs. He is also part of the Social Service in the Tribal Development Council since 1982, Valmiki Chetna Sangthan Sagwara, Bhiwadi since 1993, and Chairman of Government College, Sagwada since 1996. Currently, he is a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
