Jual Oram is a member of the 17th Lok Sabha of India. He was born on March 22, 1961 (age 60 years), Sundargarh, India. He did his study at Utkalmani Gopabandhu Institute of Engineering. He is a member of the Lok Sabha since 2014. His father’s name is Late Shri Teria Dilga Oram and his mother’s name is Smt. Bhutuki Oram. He married Smt. Jhingia Oram. Oram has a Special Interest in Farming, Working for the upliftment of Tribals and downtrodden sections of society.
Juam Oram started his political career with Bharatiya Janata Party in 1989. He was elected as the Member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly from Bonai constituency in 1990. He was the District Vice-President, B.J.P., Sundargarh, Odisha (1991-1993). He was the National Vice-President, S.T. Morcha, B.J.P. in 1993. He was re-elected to Odisha Assembly as an MLA from Bonai. Also, he served as the National Secretary, B.J.P from 1995 - 97. He was appointed as the President, Odisha State, B.J.P. He served this post till 1999. He was elected to the 12th Lok Sabha. He defeated Sunil Kumar Singhdeo of the INC Party by 126,028 votes. Later he became Whip, B.J.P. Parliamentary Party (Odisha Group), Lok Sabha. Also, from 1998 to 1999, he served as the Member of the Committee on Official Language, Standing Committee on Industry and Consultative Committee, Ministry of Coal.
He was Re-elected to 13th Lok Sabha (2nd term). He defeated Christopher Ekka of the INC Party by 152,514 votes. From 13 Oct. 1999 to May 2004, he was the Union Cabinet Minister, Tribal Affairs. He was Re-elected to 14th Lok Sabha (3rd term). He defeated Frida Topno of the INC Party by 39,676 votes. Later he became a Member of the Standing Committee on Social Justice and Empowerment and the Committee on Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. On the party front, from 2004 to 2006, he was the President of Odisha State, B.J.P. (2nd Term). He was appointed as the National Vice-President, B.J.P for three years in 2006. He was Re-elected to 16th Lok Sabha (4th term) from Sundargarh. He defeated Dilip Kumar Tirkey of BJD by a margin of 18,829 votes. On 27 May 2014, he was inducted into the Union Cabinet and became Minister of Tribal Affairs.
