John Brittas is a famous Indian politician of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Senior Journalist, Media top management Personnel, Social Worker, and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), the upper house of the Indian Parliament from the state of Kerala. He was born on 15 May 1966 (age 55 years according to 2021) in Pulikurumba, Naduvil, Distt. Kannur (Kerala), India. His father’s name is Late Shri A. P. Paily and his mother’s name is Shrimati Annamma. His educational qualification is B.A., M.A., M. Phil. from Calicut University, Kerala, and Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He is married to Shrimati Sheba Brittas on 6 February 1995 and has two children one son and one daughter.
John Brittas was always a brilliant student as he is a First rank holder and recipient of the Gold medal in Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree and was University Union Councillor of Sree Kerala Varma College, Thrissur, Kerala. He started his career as a journalist in 1987 at Kannur, Kerala, and thereafter in New Delhi. He has also been appointed to the Managing Director and Chief Editor of Malayalam Communications Ltd. (Kairali T.V.), Former Business Head of Asianet Communications. He has also been covered Indian Parliament news for more than a decade in which important events like Babri Masjid demolition, Gujarat riots, Gujarat earthquake, general elections, etc. after that he was appointed to the Advisor to Chief Minister of Kerala for 2016-21.
In 2021, he was first elected to the Rajya Sabha from the state of Kerala as a candidate of Communist Party of India (Marxist) and now serving as a member of Telephone Advisory Committee for Trivandrum, Kerala, member of Committee on Information and Communication Technology Management in Rajya Sabha and member of Committee on Communications and Information Technology since 2021. He has also been honored with the Journalism Education Award from the Goenka Foundation for research on "The Impact of Globalization in Print Media" and the Kerala State Award for Best Anchor and Presenter in three years.
