Girish Balachandran Bapat is a famous Indian politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a Member of Lok sabha. He was born on 3 September 1950 (age 71 years according to 2021) in Talegaon, Pune, Maharashtra, India. His father’s name is Shri Bhalchandra Shankar Bapat and his mother’s name is Smt. Pratibha Balchandra Bapat. His educational qualification is B.Com educated at B.M.C.C. College of Commerce, Pune, Maharashtra. His religion belongs to Hinduism and nationality, Indian. He married Girija Girish Bapat has one son named Gaurav Bapat. He has been widely traveled to Nepal, South Africa, and Vietnam.
Girish Bapat started his political career by joining the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh. After that, he joined Bharatiya Janata Party. In 1980, he was made Secretary of Pune City. He has been working for 15 years as a Corporator of Pune Municipal Corporation (1982 – 1997). In 1986 he was appointed as a Chairman of the Standing Committee for PMC. Then in 1995, he became a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly (Five Terms), Member of Krishna Valley Development Corporation. In the period of 1998 to 2019, he was appointed as so many positions these are Chairman of State Transport, Maharashtra, Chief Whip of BJP Legislative Party in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, Chairman of Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, and Cabinet Minister of Government of Maharashtra. He was also the Cabinet Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection, Food and Drugs Administration, Parliamentary Affairs in the Government of Maharashtra. In 2019 he was first elected to the 17th Lok Sabha. Currently, he is appointed as Chairperson of Committee on Estimates, Member of Standing Committee on Food, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Member of General Purposes Committee, Lok Sabha, and Member of Consultative Committee for Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. He did some Social and Cultural Activities as well as the Director of Mahatma Phule Sangrahaalaya, Pune for 21 years or Sampada Sahakari Bank for 18 yrs.
