Geeta Shakya is a famous Indian politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Agriculturist/Farmer, Social Worker and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), the upper house of the Indian Parliament from the state of Uttar Pradesh. She was born on 11 November 1969 (age 52 years according to 2021) in Hamirpur, Distt. Auraiya (Uttar Pradesh). Her father’s name is Shri Bainche Lal Shakya and her mother’s name is Shrimati Sahodra Devi. Her educational qualification is B.A., M.A. educated at Kanpur University, Bharthana, Uttar Pradesh. Her religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. She is married to Shri Mukut Singh Shakya on 7 February 1987 and has two children one son and one daughter.
Smt. Geeta alias Chandraprabha started her career as a teacher and was a Principal from 2005 to 2010. After that, she joined politics as a Pradhan of Gram Panchayat, Sinhuan, Distt. Etawah, Uttar Pradesh for 2000 - 2005 and 2005 - 2010 and later joined Bharatiya Janata Party. In 2020, she was elected to the Rajya Sabha from the state of Uttar Pradesh. Currently, she is serving as a member of the Committee on Social Justice and Empowerment since 2020 and a member of the Committee on Welfare of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) since 2021. She is also part of social and cultural activities as she made illiterate women of rural areas self-reliant through self-help groups, made arrangements for community marriage of the girls of poor families under women upliftment program, and organized technical training camp for farmers. She is a former district president of the BJP from Auraiya and a prominent leader among the OBC.
