She was born on born 21 July 1982 (age 39 years according to 2021) in the Shivpur area in the holy city of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, India. Her father’s name is Gauri Shankar Singh and her mother’s name is Urmila Singh. She belongs to a basketball player family as three of her sisters named Akanksha Singh, Pratima Singh, Prashanti Singh currently is a member of the Indian women's national basketball team. She started her playing career in her college and played many matches at the state level as she was honored with Best Player Award in Senior UP State Championship, held at Kanpur, Award for an outstanding player from Lucknow Basketball Association, Award as an outstanding player from Vice-chancellor of the Benaras Hindu University, Varanasi in 2002. After that, she joined the national level basketball team in which she won Bronze Medal in the 20th Federation Cup Basketball Championship, 2003, Vashi, Navi Mumbai, Gold Medal in 53rd Senior National Basketball Championship, 2003, Hyderabad, AP, Silver Medal in R.Vaikuntam Cup Basketball Championship for Women, 2005, New Delhi, Silver Medal in 22nd Federation Cup Basketball Championship, 2006, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand and many more.
She won her first international Bronze in Port Dickson International Invitational Basketball Championship for Senior Women, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia then Silver in 20th Asian Basketball Confederation Championship for Senior Women 2005, Sendai, Japan, Gold in First Phuket International Invitational Basketball Championship 2006, Phuket, Thailand. She has also been worked as a coach with the Delhi women's basketball team. She has been honored with awards like Bharat Gaurav Awards for excellence in sports in 2016, the Rani Laxmi Bai Bravery Award from the Government of Uttar Pradesh in 2007, and many more.
