Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari is well established Film Director and Writer. She was born on 15th October 1979 in Bombay, Maharashtra, India. She is married to ace Filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari (who has given us movies like Dangal and Chichhore) and the couple has twins- Amaarisa and Aaradhya and is currently living in Chembur, Maharashtra, India.
She went to St. Marys Convent School to complete her primary and secondary education and later did graduation from SIES College of Commerce and Economics.
Initially, she worked in the advertising agency Leo Burnett (India) and was honored with prestigious awards – New York Film Festival, One Show, Cannes Lions, and Promax. Later she left her 15-year job to make movies.
She made her directorial debut with the movie What’s For Breakfast? in 2013 and later in 2016, she directed critically acclaimed movie Nil Battey Sannata starring Swara Bhaskar. She also directed the Tamil remake of the movie Nil Battey Sannata. In 2017, she directed the comedy movie Bareilly Ki Barfi starring Kriti Sanon, Ayushmaan Khurana, and Rajkummar Rao; the movie was a blockbuster hit and won many awards. Recently, she directed Kangana Ranaut and Jassie Gill starrer Panga. Her Upcoming movie will be Ghar Ki Murgi.
