His educational qualification is B.A., Personnel Management from Bhagalpur University, Bhagalpur, Bihar. His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He married Smt. Bina Devi on 10 Feb 1964and has seven children three sons and four daughters. He loves to sing, play musical instruments, etc, and has a special interest in Social service, reading newspapers, literature, and novels, creating awareness about sanitation, Organizing seminars and plays against social malpractices, etc.
Dileshwar Kamait started his political career as a Member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly in 2009-10. In 2019, he was elected to 17th Lok Sabha from Supaul (Bihar) Constituency and became a member of the Committee on Welfare of Other Backward Classes, Standing Committee on External Affairs, and Consultative Committee for Ministry of Railways. He has been Chief Whip of JD (U) Legislative Party of Lok Sabha. He is also part of social activities as he rescued the flood-affected victims of Tribeniganj Block of Chhatapur Taluka in Supaul District of Bihar during the devastating floods in Bihar in the year 2008 with the help of my voluntary organization, and set-up camps to distribute food items and clothing; At many places, saved people from fire-related incidents, helped retired employees to receive their delayed pension amount with the assistance of Pensioners` Association; Worked towards social reforms by organizing cultural programs to raise awareness about the need for prohibition and stopping child marriages.
