Devineni Venkata Ramana had two children who are unidentical twins. Their names are Snigdha and Prajna who stay with their uncle Uma.
Uma never wanted that the state Andhra Pradesh should divide and the separated part should be formed into another state named Telangana, therefore, he participated in Samaykhya Andhra Movement and was a major part of it. Samaykhya Andhra Movement was started so that Andhra Pradesh remains united. Various protests were done in the year 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 under this movement. As soon as the Government of India decided that Andhra Pradesh will be divided and another state named Telangana will be formed, Uma resigned from Andhra Pradesh Assembly. As a true supporter of Andhra Pradesh government, in most difficult times he stood by Chandra Babu Naidu and also shown lots of bravery along with some other leaders like Dhullipalla Narendra, Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, Payyavula Keshav, Paritala Sunitha, Yerram Naidu, etc.
