His father’s name is Late Shri Murasoli Maran (ex-minister) and his mother’s name is Smt. Mallika Maran. His educational qualification is B.A. (Economics) from Loyola College, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. His religion belongs to Hinduism and Nationality, Indian. He married Smt. Priya Dayanidhi Maran on 26 Aug 1994 and has two children one son and one daughter.
Dayanidhi Murasoli Maran started his career as a candidate of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. He was first elected to 14th Lok Sabha from Chennai Central constituency in 2004 and re-elected to the next two terms 15th Lok Sabha (2nd term), 17th Lok Sabha (3rd term) from the same constituency. He has been worked at the position of Union Cabinet Minister, Communications and Information Technology for 2004-17 and Union Cabinet Minister, Textiles for 2009-11.
